Arizona Trip November 2010

Now that I have been home for 2 weeks, me thinks it is time to post my adventures with my little sister while visiting her in Phoenix, Arizona.

I would first like to thank my wonderful husband for letting me leave him and the girls home for 4 days to fend for themselves while I traveled to visit my very pregnant little sister! I still wish I could have spent more than 4 days but it was truely enjoyable anyways!

I made myself a promise to travel to the states to visit my little sister before she had her first child. So, I did just that. I was able to find a cheep flight out of Great Falls, Montana to Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona. Dian picked me up at the airport in Mesa, then we took the short drive to our great uncle's house. Instead of having to find and pay for a hotel our uncle kindly let us borrow his vacation home in Goodyear, Arizona. It is a gorgeous home!

We did discover that we were sharing the garage with 3 roommates....2 Black Widow spiders (along with their 7 egg sacks) and 1 very large Brown Recluse Spider.

All three where evicted...or should I say exterminated shortly after being found.

Dian and I spent the first two days shopping...and when I say the first two days I mean from 11am to 8pm both day. For those who know me, I don't like to shop. I do however love to spend money on my family...and so I did. =o)

We spent our evenings playing games, goofing off, reading, or playing on Dian's computer.

The third day there Dian took me to see the Mesa Temple, where we walked the grounds. I got to hug my first Palm tree and Cactus there!

We then proceeded to main street where they have an assortment of art work up and down the side walk. We spent a few hours taking silly pictures with said art work.

After that we took another short drive to Scottsdale. We visited the 'Sugar Bowl' (for those you who remember the Family Circle cartoon in the paper, it is the ice cream shop that the family used to visit). Everything inside is pink! It was pretty cute!

The ice cream was no where as good as the stuff I make...but it was the company that mattered.

We then spent the rest of the evening walking around Old Town Scottsdale. There were lots of little shops. A very nice, quaint area.

I am sure by the end of the 4 days Dian was ready to kill me...and ready to sleep in her own bed again. It was nice to spend some quality time with my little sis! It just reminds me how much I miss being close to both my sisters.

Its been WAY to long!!!

It has been forever since I have sat down to blog. Many things have changed, yet many things are still the same. We are rounding the one year mark to our shop on the west side opening, and are in the process of finalizing store #2 on the south side. It has proven to be much hard work but worth all the blood, sweat, and tears!

Makynna is now 4 1/2 years old and in Pre-school. She loves it to death! She thrives on learning and playing with other kids. Makynna's teacher, Mrs. C. is the best!

Oryn is 2 years old now. She is...well, she is Oryn. She's a comical, boisterous, independent, strong willed, frighteningly fearless child. She loves to mimic her older sister, even if Makynna doesn't appreciate it.

Scott and I work opposite shifts at the store, sharing our time with the kids. We would have it no other way. I am grateful that we have the ability to have a parent at home with the kids both day and night. Even though our time spent together is short, it is sweet while it lasts. =o)

Things are moving along. Kids are growing up. An empire is being built. LOL In the stress of trying to open our Marble Slab Creamer I haven't had much time for anything. And for those of you who didn't know, Yes, Scott and I are opening a Marble Slab here in Lethbridge. Things are coming together quite quickly now. Soon I will have even less time than before.

This week it was beautiful so I took the girls to the river bottom for a couple hours. We blew off some energy and got some great shots!

This is just a small glimpse of what I entered into when I was finished putting Oryn down for her afternoon nap...I hope you all get a kick out of this. I cleaned it half up, Oryn woke up 5 minutes later, I got her back to sleep and Makynna destroyed it once again. Just a side not here, this doesn't show the bed and closet that are also full of kaos and such. I am just going to say, I am not having all that great of an afternoon.

Six Random Facts About Kimmie

#1. I am anal retentive about capitals, spelling, and grammar when typing thing on the computer. It annoys me to all heck when people type in all lower case and when they don't use the correct words, for example: their/there/they're, whole/hole, write/right. ALL computers have spell check as well. For serious people! Would you get a passing grade in elementary school doing this?!?! I think not! Proof reading is a must.

#2. I still have my first security blanket, Mr. Booboo. I cannot sleep without him. I cannot travel without him. I WILL NOT EVER GIVE HIM UP!!! I WILL be buried with him. There isn't much left of him. When my Grandma T. made him about 23 years ago, he was blue and had little puppy dogs holding blankets on him. Now the only part of him left is the underside and the little ties the used to hold the top, the cotton batting, and the bottom together. I fear that every time I wash him he will fall apart...but I just cannot bring myself to retire him.

#3. When putting my groceries away I must organize, face (have all the labels facing English side forward), lined up perfectly and rotate old in front and new in the back. Everything has its place, and if it isn't where it is supposed to be I will take everything out of the cupboards and reorganize so that everything is perfect again. This is thanks to a boss I had years ago.

#4. I love theater makeup. Halloween is my favorite time of year. I enjoy making people look grotesque. I would have to say that my favorite Halloween yet was when I made my youngest sister and I look like bear attack victims. We each had three claw marks across our faces from hairline to chin. At the time I worked at a camping/hunting supply store and it looked so realistic that my co-workers would tell anyone who asked that I had a run in with a bear while camping and the costumers believed them. But due to having two young children I have put this passion on hold in fear of scaring them.

#5. I LOVE LADYBUGS!!! I have just about everything imaginable with ladybugs on it. I started collecting them in my early teens. It is a sickness in ways but I can't bring myself to stop.

#6. I have a complete and utter fear of open closets. The doors have to be all the way closed or I cannot sleep. I have taken the doors off all the closets in my house to creat a no closet feeling. When I was 5 years old I had a nightmare that a Dracula came out of my closet and killed my whole family. Ever since then either they are to be be shut or must not exist.

The joys of allergies

OK, so I am never going to take another anti-inflammatory again!!! When I was younger I injured myself quite a lot. I was involved in competitive gymnastics. While preparing for a competition one year I recked my ankle pretty bad. I had torn all the tendons and ligaments in my right ankle, which equals a lot of pain. My doctor prescribed me an anti-inflammatory called Voltaren Rapid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Well, after taking this drug for 2 or 3 days I had an allergic reaction to it. Apparently the drug does the opposite it is supposed to do when I take it. In a matter of hours my whole body was tightened into a ball of rock hard muscles that wouldn't move. It was the most excruciating pain I have ever endured (worse than child birth). It was so bad my jaw was locked. There was nothing the doctors could do for me. They told me I had to wait until the drug ran it's course, about 4-5 days. All I could do was cry.

Well, last week I was diagnosed with Gout; a form of chronic arthritis that isn't all that common in women, and most women who do get it are post menopausal. Hurray for rarity! My family doctor prescribed me an anti-inflammatory called Apo-Indomethacin, another drug in the NSAID family. I was told the chances of me having an allergic reaction to this drug was highly unlikely. Well, highly unlikely happened. After taking the drug for 2 days I felt my back starting to cease up. I stop taking them immediately but it was still too late. By Saturday morning my back, neck, and shoulders were ceased into a ball of knots, and I was in excruciating pain. I called my father to pick me up at 6 am and headed to the ER. I knew what they were going to tell me, "There is nothing you can do but wait it out." but I thought I would get checked out any ways.

The doctor I had told me that this reaction is not side effect of these drugs and that it was pure coincidence. I explained that it had happened before and that it was on my records. He pulled out his palm pilot, looked up the drug, and said "See, there are no known reactions like this to NISAIDs." Then he continued to tell me that is was most likely a viral infection, prescribed me some T3s for the pain and sent me on my way. I am SO impressed with this doctor that I just might ask to switch over my records to his practice!

So, to close this blog I am making it know to everyone that this pain is all in my head, that my memory of the reaction I had 20-odd years ago never happened, and that all people react the same to ALL drugs. Man, I love the medical professionals who think they know everything. I am greatful that I have a great family doctor!

Holly Crow!!! August is gone?!?!

Well now, I can't believe the summer went by so quickly! August was a busy month for us. Lots of new and exciting things going on. Lots of fun memories. Lots of crazy days ahead. I will try to fit as much as I can in but at the same time make this as painless as possible for those reading. =P

The beginning of the month brought Whoop Up Days here in Lethbridge. We were able to go see the parade to kick the festivities off. Makynna loved watching everyone walk by. I will have to say that she has the perfect "queen wave". She cheered on everyone. Oryn's favorite parts where the marching bands and the bag pipers.

A few days later we where able to go to the fair grounds...or as Makynna would call it, "the fairest". She put fair and Farris wheel together. On the Thursday we went with Auntie Dian. We gave Makynna the choice of which ride she wanted to go on first...she picked the fishy ride. I tried to talk her out of it because I saw how fast it went but she wouldn't listen. Man, you should have seen her face! PRICELESS! The minute that thing started to move she looked like she was going to have an aneurysm. She didn't cry. She didn't scream. She just hung on. When the ride stopped all she said was, "Mommy, I want out." After that she was a little more cautious on her choices. LOL She had a blast though. We ate cotton candy, and elephant ears then it was time to take Auntie Dian to work...with a promise to come back tomorrow. On Friday we hit the "fairest" with Grandma Ully, Grandpa Ully, and Auntie Dainta. We ate more food then it was off to the rides once more. Makynna never asked to go on the fishy ride again, though. We played games up the wahzoo, and Makynna took a load of prizes home...Oryn got a few as well. We even got a chance to watch a bit of the Rodeo (not my favorite). Oryn was enthralled with the cowboys riding the crazy horses.

Later on in the month Papa Hovan's work was having their employee, family function. They had it out at the Skyline Ranch, just northwest of Clarseholm. They had a BBQ, horseshoes, fishing, lassoing, face painting, and horseback riding. We had a blast! Makynna, who is afraid of everything, decided that she wanted to go horseback riding...when Makynna got on that horse, she was not EVER getting off! She fell in love with Peggy, the horse. She was quite upset when they needed her to switch to a smaller horse so they could take another adult on the trail ride. It took some convincing but she warmed up to Sage, the other horse. Oryn did really good out there. She rode in her stroller the whole time without any fuss. She loved watching everything and everyone.

Then on my birthday we went to the Calgary Zoo for the day. It was also Grandma Ully's birthday so we made it a Ully family trip. We left at 9:00 am and didn't get home until 10:30 pm. It was a long day but a great day! Oryn was so good. Once again, she sat in her stroller the whole time and watched everything. She only kicked up a fuss once and that was in the Jeep on the way home but it was short lived. Makynna caught on to what you are supposed to do at the zoo...run from animal to animal. She had a blast!

Then, this weekend we had the opportunity to meet Dian's fiance, David. He is a very nice young man. I had to hold back the vomit when I watched them leave my house and get into Dian's car. David walked Dian to the driver's side, opened the door for her, waited there until she was in, then closed the door, then walked to the passenger's side and got in. Oh gag me. LOL Jokes! It was cute. Makynna took an immediate fancy to poor David. If she were 19 years older Dian would have some healthy competition on her hands. Eh, Di? Oryn too was twitter patted with David. The smile she gave him when we went for dinner at O-sho's was the biggest toothless grin she has ever given. So I guess we have to keep him now. We are super excited to welcome him into our family permanently on December 16! Sorry! I don't have any pictures of Dian and David to add to this blog update...hopefully next one.

Now a quick over view of the milestones we have over come this month. We discovered that Oryn is lactose intolerant, she got her first tooth, is now "army crawling", can say dada...and didi (Auntie Di was on the phone with her today), and is getting into anything and everything...mainly her big sister's toys, which she is not "allowed" to play with. Makynna has taken "ownership" of her baby sister. "That's my Boryn!" (which is what Makynna calls Oryn). Makynna has also become more interested in learning to write her alphabet, her imagination has become even more vivid, her shoe size has gone from a size 7 to a size 9 in just two short weeks, and she has learned that her skin is called her "epidermis". Life is good all around!

Cousins, Camping, and Birthday Parties...

July came and went way too quick! Camping was short lived this year. We were only able to get the trailer out once this year but had fun anyways. We met Scott's parents out at Ridge Reservoir intending to stay for 3 nights but Makynna decided the first night at about 2 am that she didn't want to camp anymore. So, the next day we packed up the trailer - after a day of boat rides, fishing, walking with Grandma Ully, and playing - and went home. The day that we were supposed to come home we got a phone call from Scott's parents. They got hit with a wicked hail storm. The hail was the size of softballs and they had 3 actually go through the walls and roof of their fifth wheel!!! So thank Heaven for whispering in Makynna's ear because I don't think our tent trailer would have given us much protection.

Chrissy and her 3 kids came up for a visit before they left for their move to Oklahoma. It was good to see them all, and the kids had a blast playing.

We also celebrated Makynna's 3rd Birthday too. We had a family party at the Hovan house as well as one at the Ully house. My sister made these wonderful frog cupcakes. I wish I had her talent of creativity. From Makynna's cousins she got two games and a pair of dress up shoes...that she tries to run in all the time, Scary!!! From Grandma Ully and Auntie Daina she got a 'Tickle Trunk' full of costumes (which Oryn and I tried on), and from Grandpa Ully she got a scooter.

On the morning of Makynna's birthday I asked her what she wanted for breakfast...she said pancakes, so I made them special for her. And seeing that we didn't have a friend birthday party for her this year I made rice crispy flowers and took them to nursery on Sunday.

All in all it was good month!

Today was Scott and my 5th wedding anniversary. It doesn't seem like it has been that long, Oh how time flies when you're having fun. I am just warning you I will be writing a few cheesy things about my dear husband so I apologize if I make you gag. =)

Its hard to believe that I met Scott 10 years ago. He had a bit more hair back then but was and still is a very kind, loving man. Don't get me wrong, like any woman, I would still like to throttle my husband every once and awhile but he truly is the love of my life. From the first day I met him he was respectful, funny, caring, and handsome. We met at the gas station where I worked with one of his friends. He made me laugh. From there is was a long 4 years before he proposed...apparently all my friends from work had a bet going to see how long it would take. I just found this out 2 days ago...and for those that were in, WHERE'S MY CUT OF THE POT?!?! LOL Our year long engagement went by fast as did the wedding...and the next 5 years that followed.

Scott, I love you for all that you have done as well as still do for me. You always try to please me. You work hard to provide for our family...and what a beautiful family it is. You are as handsome as ever. I don't know what I would do with out you! I love you, Scott! Happy Anniversary!

The Joys of My Life!

Well, time seems to fly faster than you think it does. Makynna turns 3 next month and Oryn is now 5 1/2 months old. I don't think I have accomplished much this past few months but I know I have done lots. As a family we have enjoyed the sun as well as the rain this season...rain taking up most of it.

I have slowed my picture taking this past month due to 2 wild and busy kids but have managed to capture some of the fun things we have done. One of the most exciting things we did recently was to take a trip up to Red Deer to attend the wedding of a friend I have known since preschool. It was so good to see her and her family as well as meet her husband.

Makynna got to puddle jump for the first time this week. I finally broke down after she asked to play in the rain for 3 weeks straight. She was sick already so no point in keeping her couped up. So, we threw on our rubber boots and headed her outside.

Makynna has a few new passions...1) Blowing bubbles, which I am sure the world would run out of suds if I would let her blow bubbles all day long. 2) Ice cream but really, who doesn't love ice cream?!?! 3) Putting on makeup...and for those of you who know Makynna, this is totally out of character.

Oryn has over come a few mile stones. She is able to sit up on her own...but if she sees something out of her reach, over she goes. Oryn can roll over onto her stomach but hates being there. And the best of all, she is in her own room.

Three weeks ago we started Oryn on rice cereal. She did good for three days then decided that she didn't want anything to do with. So far the only other thing we have tried is pureed carrots...that didn't go over very well either but when she's ready I am sure she'll let us know.

As for everything else life is good. Hectic and stressful at times but good.

A weekend full of fun...and spending money!

I took Makynna and Oryn shopping on Saturday. I wanted to pick up some clothing that actually fit. What a wonderful surprise it was when Sears was having a big sale! I got away with a pair of jeans , a pair of sweat pants, a workout shirt, a nice dressy shirt, a hoodie, and some new underwear...but when shopping for underwear remember to leave your father in-law with the kids. My in-laws met us at the mall. Grandpa was with Makynna to start but while I was trying on cloths she decided she wanted to go for a walk with Grandma and Oryn...Aubrey stayed behind to wait for me. After I decided what I was going to keep for cloths it was off to the panties. Poor guy! Oh well. Anywho, after I finished shopping for me we took a walk around. We stopped at SportCheck so Makynna could look at the bikes. She looked at the red ones...then the blue ones but all by its lonesome was a cute little pink one. Makynna took a fancy to it(the first pink thing she has ever picked out on her own) and it was on sale so I bought it for her. When the guy was unlocking the bike to bring it to the till Makynna almost took the poor guy out. She thought that he was taking her bike away. It was funny. She sat on the bike, very proud while I pulled her through the mall out to the Jeep. A lot of people commented on how cute she looked, and that she was. Now I have to spend some quality time teaching her how to ride a big girl bike. We now have the steering thing down but if anyone has any advice on how to teach a 2 1/2 year old to peddle please let me know.

Scott surprised me by planning a day of quadding in the mountains with some of our friends this weekend. June, my mother in-law was brave enough to take both kids all day Sunday while we went. We dropped them off at 9 am and set off for the Porcupine Hills. It was a blast!

About 15 minutes into our first trail Scott decide to pin it up a hill...we ended up bouncing off a tree root on to a rock then onto another tree root blowing out our rear right tire. So, we turned around and filled it up (Thanks to Troy for bringing his air compressor!). Then it was back on the trails again. The day was beautiful. Only a few clouds in the sky, a light snow, and a cool breeze which put the temperature around -5 C all day. There was still a lot of snow on the ground, 3 feet in some places. Still it was a good time. It was nice to get out of the house without the little kids and play with the big kids. Thanks Scott for thinking to involve me and getting me out of the house. And thank you, June for making it possible by taking the kids!

Oryn's Blessing

On Sunday, March 16, 2008 Oryn was blessed in Church. My Dad (Papa; Tom Hovan) was there to give the blessing, and everyone who participated was; Jake Roecker (brother-in law), Jeff Fyfe (a good friend of Scott and mine), Jason Green (a good friend of mine), and Gale Iwaasa (a good friend of the family) as well as Bishop Standing (8th Ward Bishop). The blessing was beautiful! Thanks Dad! My Mom (Gama; Sharon Hovan) made Oryn's dress. It was beautiful as well! Thanks Mom! Scott's Mom (Grandma; June Ully) as well as Scott's sister (Auntie Dainta; Daina Ully) came out to support Oryn. And I cannot forget my little sister (Auntie Di; Dian Hovan), my older sister (Auntie Pissy; Chrissy Roecker), and her three children (Liza Lu; Eliza Roecker, Danimal; Daniel Roecker, and Rain Man; Rainey Roecker) all came up from Logan, Utah. I am so greatful for all the love and support both our families show us.

After Church was over we had family to our house for dinner. Nothing fancy, just spaghetti. It was fun to watch all the kids interact. It is amazing at how well they get along for only seeing each other every couple of months. But, by the end of the day Makynna was tired and very grumpy. All in all it was a wonderful day!

As the week went on we got back into our routine...it is amazing at how a 3 month old knows what time it is! Oryn knows that at 7:45 pm she gets fed, at 8 pm it is bath time, after bath she gets a top up then usually by 8:45 pm she is in bed. Man, if you don't stick to the schedule, she will let you know. Scott came down with the flu on Wednesday, stayed home from work...something he never does, and has been sick all weekend. Last night I started to get the aches, chills, and a sore throat. This morning I woke up with no voice and felt like death. Makynna was super hyper today, which didn't help the pounding head ache but thankfully Oryn was in a good mood and slept most of the afternoon.

Yesterday I was able to catch Oryn being a little silly. Scott and I can't get over how serious she is. She's not an unhappy baby...just not smiley. She makes us work for the smiles and laughs we do get. She has this new thing with sticking out her tongue. It is wicked funny. We also had Oryn's three month check up yesterday. She weighed in at 12 lbs. 12 oz., and was 23" long. My big baby!

Makynna is Makynna. We went for a visit to Great Grandma Ully's on Monday. Makynna and Grandpa have fun playing with Great Grandma's wheelchair and walker all the time. We discovered how strong Makynna is. She pushed her Grandpa across the floor in the wheelchair with no problems. "What a bull!" as her Dad would say.

I was looking through some of my "random" pictures from recent and thought I would share.

Okay, done! Now for the kids...Scott and I have been working with Makynna on her writing. Because Scott is left handed and I am right handed, I have been working with her using both (in turn I have been learning to use my left hand). She has become quite good at switching it up! Now here hoping this ambidextrous thing stick.

Oryn has gotten to the really cute stage of baby. She is starting to make those wonderful cooing sounds, smiling lots, and laughing. She is growing more each day. I am amazed by just watching these two grow and learn. It makes me proud to say I am their Mommy!

It has been an exciting few weeks...not really but we are keeping busy. Oryn is growing like a weed. She got her first set of shots last week. She took them pretty good. While we were there I weighed her...she came in at a whopping 12 lbs. 5 oz. She is having the exact opposite problem then Makynna had when she was a baby. Oryn's legs are too short for the pants but her belly is too big. On the other hand, Makynna's legs were too long and her belly not big enough. But Oryn is still adorable! We are calling her our serious baby. She is always looking around, taking in everything but only smiles on special occasions(that's what I'm calling them). Oryn hones in on Makynna and just watches her. As of late Oryn has become a mommy suck though. She tends to cry if anyone else but Mommy is holding her. I know there will be a day when she won't be like that so I feel blessed...if that is what you want to call it. Jokes! I am blessed.

Makynna is learning way too fast. She has known her alphabet for awhile now so we got her some white board alphabet cards which she calls "school". She can spend hours drawing on them...but would rather color in the pictures then trace the letter. With time though. She is starting her "I can't like you!" stage. It grates on you after awhile but she always reassures you later that she loves you. I have been getting the brunt of this stage because Scott has a lot going on a work and has put a few long days in. So when Daddy is home Mommy is dirt. The other day I went to her room to get her up and she told me she didn't like me and to leave her room and send Daddy in. Scott was at work so I left and closed the door. She played in her room for another 20 minutes and them came out to tell me that she was grump because Daddy left her with me. So we called Daddy at work and talked for a bit...then Mommy was her best friend. I'll take what I can get.

On Saturday we had the chance to meet Scott's side of the family at the mall for lunch. It was good, Makynna got to visit with all her second cousins. The kids were well behaved and they had a blast too. Scott's Auntie Bonnie and Uncle George were visiting from the Pass. Makynna and Oryn's Great Grandma Boo(Scott's Grandma) and Aunt Daina were out too. And Grandma Ully doted on the girls, as usual. And after the mall Grandma Ully took Makynna for the afternoon so that Scott and I could get a nap...Oryn took one too. Thank heaven for parents! Saturday was a good day!!!

My older sister, Chrissy and her husband, Jake went to Hawaii for a week. So my parents being the wonderful Grandparents they are offered to take their 3 kids. Papa and Di drove down on Thursday to pick the kids up and then drove back on Saturday. After church on Sunday Makynna, Oryn, and I went to Gama and Papa's house to give Daddy the afternoon off(he was pulling a double shift so that he could get some work on the restaurant done). The adults were out numbered. 5 kids and 4 adults. We stayed for dinner, which wasn't a chaotic as I expected. I would have to say we did pretty good. There were no fights or arguments...but Makynna and Daniel became good friends. The decided to play in Gama's laundry room...they emptied half a bottle of liquid detergent on to the floor and proceeded to clean. Papa found them. I cleaned up the kids and Papa cleaned up the laundry room. Poor Papa!

Other then kids, there isn't much to report. We are still getting by. Living each day and loving each other. What more could we ask for...besides a million dollars.

I went downstairs to put some laundry in, it took about 10 minutes, I decided that it was way too quiet upstairs. I peek around the corner and see Makynna wiping the floor in the kitchen with a dish towel. I asked her what had happened and she said she was cleaning up a mess. I assumed it was the cats' water because she was right by their dishes. I told her I would help her and she gave me the towel...but low and be hold there was no water on the cloth...but Poop! She had got the runs, it blew out the back of her pants while she was playing in the kitchen. She was being helpful and cleaning it up for me. What a good kid! But, it just kinda smeared all over the place. So I picked her up and changed her, then it was to the kitchen to clean the mess. As I was cleaning the mess my beautiful daughter asked me, "Mommy, you cleaning your mess up?" Oh how wonderful she is!

I have become a shutter bug now with two kids. I am also trying to play around with my camera a little more...taking random, yet interesting or cute pictures. Here is what I did this week while working on only 6 hours of sleep in 63 hours. Yes, both kids were sick this week...it also being Valentines weekend(for those of you who aren't in the restaurant industry that means I don't see my husband for approximately 4 days...he is a slave to his job). Makynna had some sort of stomach bug and pretty much puked for 2 days and Oryn had a really bad cold, and could barely breath. My sanity was not intact for a few days...but I did get some help from my loving family. Thank you to everyone who helped out. Anyways, everyone is on the mend now...except for Scott, who still has 2 more hell days(Monday being Family Day), poor guy. Okay....lets get back to the pictures!

For those of you who know my eldest child, you also know that she only has 2 speeds: Super FF and Dead Asleep. Well low and behold we found something that kept her entertained for over 20 minutes...and quiet. She made a mess but it was worth the quiet time.

Yep, she pealed all the paper off her crayons. We tried to talk to her but she was concentrating so hard that we were blocked out. So I guess what I need to do is buy a new box of crayons when ever I need her to sit still and be quiet. Could be expensive but just might be worth it.

Now how cute are these two! Makynna was in a good mood the other day so I had a few minutes to capture the fun she was having with Oryn. In the one black and white I can't get over how many similarities my girls have. Its crazy!

This is Makynna "Farting" Oryn. She watches Scott and me do so often that she has decided that she needs to help too. All she does is hold Oryn's legs and says "Fart Oryn, I help you." Quite entertaining.

After church on Sunday I was trying to think of an activity that would keep Makynna happy and entertained until it was time for supper. I decided that we should make home made buns. We had a blast! It took the better part of 2 1/2 hours (Me not being talented in the bread making area). The buns turned out okay but it was the fun we had that was the best. I gave Makynna her own dough. That poor piece of dough. It got work! We never put it in the oven...even though I told her we did...I couldn't even imagine how hard it would have been. When Dad got home from work he got attacked. It was not the day for Scott to wear all black. Scott was a good sport...but quickly turned the tables on Makynna and tickled her to death...well, I am pretty sure she peed.

Tonight we went over to visit Makynna and Oryn's Great-Grandma Ully. Makynna was her usual hyperactive self, and Oryn was content the whole time. Grandma and Grandpa Ully were there as well. It was the first time Great-Grandma had seen Oryn.
Grandpa entertained Makynna with the wheelchair. It was amusing to watch. And Grandma loved on Oryn.

Okay, I have been slowly getting myself organized. I am venturing out on my own more. Kynna, Oryn, and I have a good system going. I am quite suprised at how well Makynna behaves while we are out...but you through another adult into the mix and she seems not to want to cooperate. Funny, you would think it would be the other way around.
I have also had the chance to brave the single parent at bed time. Chrissy I don't know how you did it...or still do it. I have survived and come out with not so bad resaults.
It is quite cute to watch Makynna with her baby sister. She loves to walk up to Oryn...while she is asleep in her chair give a BIG squeeze, pat her head or face and say "Oryn, you're my best friend! I love you!" Which Oryn replies with a good scream on some occasions. But on most she just watches and listens to her big sister with pure content. I love it...I know it won't last forever so I must take it when I can get it.

Holly Cow!!! Has it been that long?

Talk about lacking in the update area. Lots has gone on since last post...I won't go that far back. Just an update on the new little one...and Makynna.
The new edition to our family arrived Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at 05:30 am. Oryn R.H. Ully weighed in at 8 lb. 1 oz and was 20 inches long. As like Makynna, Oryn came fast. I started contractions at 03:40am, my water broke at 03:50am, when we got registered at the hospital I was too far along to take any drugs, labour was an intense hour and a half, and after 15 minutes of pushing she joined the outside world.

Oryn has just as much hair as Makynna did...and they could be considered twins two year apart.

I do have to say we make good looking kids...but I'm biased.

Its been a good month. Busy, hectic, kinda crazy but good! I am now at the 8 week count down. This kid is coming sooner then I expected. We are frantically trying to get the house organized...by that I mean I have been cleaning, donating, and throwing away. I cannot believe how much junk can be accumulated in such a short amount of time. We finally finished cleaning out our storage room so that we can transform it into our bedroom. By doing this we have discovered that there is never enough room to put stuff. Oh well!

Kynna's little mind is growing by the day. Her imagination is running away with her. Her vocabulary is extraordinary. And she is growing faster then we can buy cloths and shoes. But she is still my little angel!

I have decided that I have become not so bad at cutting my child's hair. This is the second time I have done it myself and people keep asking where I take her...so it can't be that bad.

Kynna has a new favorite food group...Blue Jello! She has been stained blue a couple times but as long as she enjoys it...

Kynna loves to wait for her dad to come home from work...looking out the window telling me which cars and trucks do not belong to Scott.

And her favorite past time with her father is getting a ride in any container she can fit into...yes, even an empty garbage can!

We even had the chance to have a friend over for a play date. Kynna and Jackson had a blast making a mess, jumping on the couch, and tickling each other.

And then there was Halloween!

A much needed update...

Okay, lots has happened since Kynna's 2nd Birthday. I am now finished work. My last day was Aug. 24, 2007...and I am very happy about it! I have not looked back, and never will. Too many silly things going on there. To keep it short and sweet...I will never set foot in the building again!

Enough of that though. We went on our first family vacation of the year(back in August). We took Kynna camping. We decided it was time to upgrade from a tent to a tent trailer. We got a 2007 Starcraft RT. It was so nice to have a home away from home! I don't know why we didn't do it earlier. It makes camping with a child much easier...and with the 2nd one coming next year will prove to be a challenge but not as bad as if we tent it.

Kynna loved camping! We went with Grandma and Grandpa Ully. And throughout the weekend had lots of visitors; Aunt Daina, Grandma Boo, Uncle Dev, Grandma and Papa Hovan, Auntie Di, and Kayla.

In September Kynna, Grandma Hovan, Auntie Di, and I went to visit my older sister in Logan, Utah. Kynna had a blast playing with her niece, Eliza, and her two nephews, Daniel, and Rainey. Chrissy and Jake took us all over the place. It was a tiring week but well worth it!

We went to the Salt Lake Temple, and had the chance to listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir practice. We went to this historical place where we learned what it might have been like to live back in the time of the pioneers. They had a petting zoo where Kynna and Daniel chased some chickens. Kynna even got to pet a real live turkey. We went on a few bike rides, and spent way too much time shopping and spending money.

When we got home there was lots of cleaning to do. But laundry got done, the house got organized, and we settled back into our old routine. Kynna found her love for corn on the cob, decided she was a "cowboy", and played in the rain.

Now that we are all caught up on the last 2 months...I am enjoying my time with Kynna now that I am home. I wouldn't change it for the world. She has grown so much, learned so much, and each and everyday is another adventure.

I am now 27 weeks pregnant...not long now. I am slowly trying to prepare our family for the arrival of this one. We have two names picked out but won't make the final decision until we see what see looks like. It has been cute watching Makynna lift up her shirt and tell people that her baby sister is in her tummy. I think it will be quite a shock to her when her mommy time comes to a brief halt with the arrival of this one but I know she will be a fantastic big sister!

It has come and gone...way to quickly! Because I had to work on Kynna's actual birthday we planned it for the Saturday before. Everyone was able to come and enjoy the free entertainment; Makynna Ully at her finest. Of course she got spoiled. But boy did she have some fun. It was just close friends and family that came. Nice and quiet...well, for Kynna it was quiet anyways! Kynna's friend Jackson came with his mom and dad, Janelle and Jeff. Then a few of Scott and my friends came as well as the grands, great grands, and aunties. We held the festivities at Scott's mom and dad's house. It was awesome. But enough of me rambling...here is what everyone really wants to do, look at pictures.

So that was Kynna 2nd Birthday. The ones she loves (and weren't to far away) came to show her they care. And we would like to thank everyone for your wonderful love and friendship. You all make Kynna's life that much more happy and special!

Kynna's Hair Cut...

I came to the realization two weeks ago that Makynna's hair had to be cut (after vowing to myself that I would not cut it because it looks so cute long) but she will not let me comb it let alone put it in a ponytail or even a clip. And because it has been so hot I did not want to torture her with long hair. We tried taking her to the salon but you guessed it, she freaked! They couldn't even get close to her. So...one night while we were at Grandma and Papa Hovan's house I cut her hair. Yes, I did it myself. She was in the tub, we got her distracted with some toys...and I took one chunk off...she was not happy...then I calmed her down and got her distracted again...and took another chunk off...once again not so happy. It took four different attempts but we got it...most of it anyways. I took 3 inches off the back! Her hair was so beautiful. But she looks cute anyways. She has a few fly away pieces but it looks like I actually took her to a salon.

I really have no excuse to not keeping my blog updated...well, other than a close to 2 year old, a full time night job, and morning sickness but those really aren't good reasons, are they!?!? We have been busy all around. Scott is working his butt off filling all the holidays his managers are taking as well as trying to keep up with Kynna and house work. I am doing about the same. Because of work schedules our poor house has been neglected. I only have one month left of work and then I will do my best to give it some tender love and care...which could take a while.

Kynna is doing great! She is almost two now. I cannot believe how smart she is...I know all parents say that but she pick things up so quickly. Her favorite thing; singing. She has a few favorite artists: Tom Petty, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dog, Shaggy, Jonny Cash, CCR and the list goes on. She can tell who is singing the songs and she knows most of the words to the songs. She only has to hear a song once or twice before she can pick up the words and the beat. It is quite amazing! Enough of me bragging about my precious little one. I had a minute before I need to go to bed. I have some new pics I will post soon.

Okay, it has been some time since I have had the energy to stay up long enough to sit in front of the computer while Kynna is napping. I know word travels fast but in case you haven't heard; We are expecting again!!! We found out about 2 weeks ago. I am due Dec. 30, 2007.
So far not much for nausea but oh boy are the migraines bad! I am finding it tough trying to keep Kynna entertained all day and then going to work and working until late at night...I think this is a bad sign. I am not that far along and I feel like I am going to die of exhaustion. Oh well, just preparing me for the arrival of another I guess.
All here is good. Kynna has been different this past week. She is happy then two seconds later watch out! I guess she is just about 2 so I figured it was coming.
Scott has been keeping busy with work as well. Working days then he gets to entertain Kynna at night.
Chrissy (my older sister), Jake (her husband), and their three kids, Eliza, Daniel, and Rainey are all visiting for the week. They arrived Friday night. So far Kynna has been able to spend some time with her cousins but not too much.
We did family photos for the first time ever with EVERYONE here. Amazing! I cannot wait to see how they turn out. I am sure I will post some when they come in.
Well, I should get some stuff done while I have the energy and the munchkin is sleeping.

Family Time Continues...

Scott and I had decided last week that we were going to spend our days off together as a family and do as many indoor/outdoor activities as possible. Well, for a second week in a row we were able to get some good quality time in.
Monday we took a road trip to Calgary...not so successful. Kynna was not in the mood at all to be in a vehicle. When we finally made it to IKEA she threw her first ever tantrum in public. Wow was that fun. So we packed her up and headed her home.

Tuesday we did some cleaning inside and outside. Kynna played in what backyard we have. She had a blast. Earlier in the day I bought her a big blue ball. She chased it around the back yard, as well as the tire that her Dadad would roll. At one point in time she found a Bumble Bee. When is flew away, she searched the grass for it but, "Its Gone!" was all we could get.

We then took her to Henderson Park. There is a big grassy area in front of the "Japanese Gardens" that we set her free in. She ran and ran and ran and ran...then we walked the path a bit. Momom and Kynna were pretending to waddle like penguins...an older couple came up behind us and said, "We came to the lake for a walk. We never in our wildest dreams thought we would see penguins!" They asked Kynna if they could take her home because she was so cute, and what do you know she went to take the man's hand to go home with him. What a kid. After that we went for a cruise. We rolled down the windows, Dadad cranked the music and Kynna sang along. So all in all we had a good couple of days.

Family Day At The Park

Since Scott took the week after his birthday off we have had some awsome family time. Makynna has enjoyed having Momom and Dadad home all day. She has been playing so hard that for the past four days she has been taking 3 1/2 hour naps and then wanting to go to bed by 7 pm. We have been keeping her up later so that our days weren't as long but she still slept 11-12 hours every night.

On Monday we got to go to Henderson Park and play. We walked around the Lake a bit, kicked her ball on the grass, went on the swings, and the slide, played in the rocks and dirt...but the funnest of all was watching the ride-on lawnmower! The city was cleaning up all the leave and branches from the winter. They were collecting them into a big pile then had a vacuum attached to the garbage truck to suck it all in. It was quite interesting. We ended up watching them for about 20 minutes...and when we left, boy was Kynna upset...then we saw some puppies and all was good again.

Today we decided to get some yard work done. Scott mowed the lawn while Kynna and Momom watched. Then we started to collect all the garbage and debris in the back yard. Kynna helped dig dirt, roll a tire, collect bugbugs, and sweep off the deck. She had a blast but wasn't to happy when it was nap time though.

Okay so I am slacking in the ability to wish Scott a Happy Birthday...well, on the blog anyways. From what I could tell Scott had a blast. We had the weekend planned to go Quading...seeing that is what We bought for him for his birthday...there was a group of 6 of us that were going out. Then last minute everyone cancelled dew to family things. So, Scott and I went by ourselves. It was a blast!!! We went to the Porcupine Hills. There was still some snow but it was 7 above when we got there and by the afternoon it was 14 above. There was tones of mud. I think I got the dirtiest out of the two of us...at one point I even ate some mud, "Mmmm, like it!" as Kynna would say. Anywho, me being the silly person I am, forgot to bring the camera. So we only got the aftermath. So here you all go. Scott's new baby...

Makynna and Momom were doing laundry today. Makynna found one of her bugbug gloves...which she refused to wear in the winter...and just had to wear it today. There was one huge problem though, we could not find the other one! Soooo, we put a sock on her other hand. Wow! Who knew that gloves could be so much fun!?!?! She ran around the house all morning with a sock on one hand and a mitten on the other. She would pick up her cup of juice and very carefully place it in my hands saying, "Cawrful, Momom. HOT!" then walk away. I would place it on the table and a little while later she would come back, look at the cup pick it up, hand it back to me, and repeat herself. I am guessing her "gloves" were actually oven mitts?!?!?! Then we found the bugbug tuque and had to wear it as well. There are no words to describe how much I love this little girl, so here are some pictures so you can see for yourselves.

Well, as per usual Kynna got spoiled for Easter. She got lots of wonderfully beautiful cloths and a gorgeous yellow dress. She got chocolate galore. And her new favorite thing...a bike. She got a little helmet, some tassels for her handle bars, and a horn too. She knows that she is not allowed on her bike without her helmet and she is very good with that rule. I cannot believe how big she looks on the bike. I thought the bike might be too big for her but she looks like a big girl when she rides it. I cannot get over how time flies! It feels like just yesterday she was a little baby.

Makynna is retaining so much information now. Everyday it is something new. To watch a child grow and learn is nothing shy of a gift from God. How blessed we have been to have Makynna in our lives. And I am sure she will continue to touch other's lives as she grows into a beautiful young woman.

Never a dull moment at work

So, tonight at work was crazy! We did Friday sales on a Thursday, with half the staff. Insane. That's not the best part though. So everyone goes home and I am left to finish up the paperwork and to close the place down. Unbeknownst to me, my closing cook emptied the drip trays from the grill tonight (for those of you who aren't sure of what I am talking about they are the trays under a grill that catch all the burnt chunks, any fallen sauce, etc.). Well, apparently all they do when they clean the drip trays is dump them right into the garbage bin. As I am leaving for the evening I walk out the door and smell smoke...then I look over AND THE GARBAGE BIN IS IN FLAMES!!!! It just so happens that our trash storage is also attached to our storage shed. I start to panic and run inside, start filling buckets with water and begin to carry them to the back door. As I go out side again the fire department shows up. One of our friendly neighbours had called. So, I spent another hour waiting to be sure that the grease bins that are also kept in the same area don't catch on fire as well. The fire department was able to put out the blaze without any problems but I got a severe lashing over our disposal procedures. Yippie!!! And that is my story. Now it is time for bed. Scott's alarm goes off in 2 1/2 hours.

Kynna picked up a movie off the shelf the other day. So Kynna and Momom watched the movie together. There is one part that we ended up watching over and over and over and over again. I was able to find the clip on YouTube. One of my employees said that I should put it on my blog page...so here you go Richard. I know this will make Auntie Di happy too. So, slip on your dancing shoes and hit the play button...

Oh the joy of a empty box

Well, Kynna has discovered the wonderful world of an empty box! She emptied about half a box of unused garbage bags, approximately 20-30 bags, onto the living room floor. Then she decided to make a nest in an empty box. Now she tries to hide in it and jump out at you. Quite entertaining.

After she gets settled and finds something of interest on TV, Kynna kicks back and relaxes in her little nest. But when you disturb her she gets a little cranky.

Yesterday, while Momom was pulling Kynna around in the box and making car noises, the box split. She got out and immediately demanded that Momom fix it. So today, I must go to buy some packing tape and fix what I broke. Silly Momom!

Momom and Dadad had to both work late Friday night so Kynna got to sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa Ully's house. As always Grandma said Kynna was an angel...but who wouldn't be an angel when you get spoiled rotten!?!? Well, if she got spoiled rotten then she wouldn't be an angel but you know what I mean. Anywho, Grandma and Grandpa bought Kynna this cut little out fit so that she would have a Cruisn' outfit to match her Jeep. You can't see it all that well in the picture but the shirt has a green Jeep on it. They also taught her a new phrase...Kynna's new truck is now called the "Cheep Jeep". Funny grandparents they are.

When Grandma dropped Kynna off on Saturday afternoon she was being a silly little duck. She helped Momom sweep and vacuum. She also helped fill the dishwasher, pick up toys...and scatter them all over again, she helped with the laundry...she took the clean stuff out of the the basket and put it on the floor, because that is where the clean clothes go. Then it was time to play! She ran after Scheisster while riding her little truck. Then it was time to ride Scheisster. When that didn't go over so well she decided it was time to mimic something Dadad does. Every morning Dadad lays on the floor with his hands behind his head and stretches his back and legs out. Needless to say it was cute so Momom got out the camera. Snap happy Momom and her file of 1400 pictures of Kynna. When they're this cute you just can't help it!

This week Kynna's Auntie Pissy, her cousins Eliza, and Rainey, plus Dian's boyfriend Mike came to visit. Dian didn't know Mike was coming so she was super surprised when they got to Lethbridge. Everyone arrived Tuesday morning at 3:30 am. Because of our busy work schedules we didn't get to spend much time with everyone. But we got a few family dinners and some quality play time in.

We were super stoked to meet Rainey! He is absolutely handsome! When we first went to see everyone on Tuesday Kynna tried pushing Rainey off my lap and kept saying, "Off! My momom. OFF!" But she did okay after that and she did end up getting a few kisses in. Eliza was Eliza. The center of attention as usual but a natural born comedian. Kynna wasn't sure how to take her but thought she was "Funny!" Kynna was disappointed when Daniel was nowhere to be found but he had some minor surgery and was unable to make the trip. Jake and Daniel stayed home for some manly bonding time. Hopefully next time we will be able to see them.

Kynna loves the movie "Cars". She would watch it every waking hour if we would let her. There is one specific scene called "Cruisen'" that they play the song "Life would be a dream" in the background. Kynna loves to dance and sing along, "Shaboom Shaboom". Here is a clip of her at her finest, groovn' to the song...enjoy! Oh, about halfway through the video it shakes pretty good...I couldn't stop laughing. Sorry!

Here is our new baby!!! Isn't she beautiful? I would have taken some pictures of the inside but my camera's battery died. Hopefully we will be able to take it out for some minor off-roading soon (even though Scott doesn't want to. Something about it being too nice a vehicle to get dirty). I will try to talk him into it this summer. We need to test it's 4 wheeling capabilities, don't you think? Anywho, must get ready for work...how fun!

Okay, I have been crazy busy with work for the past few days so I have not had time to do much of anything. The weekend started off just great!!! Scott came home early from work on Saturday with a fun little bug known as the "Nor wok" virus (forgive my spelling). He was out of commission for 2 days. Poor guy ended up loosing ten pounds!

Kynna kinda suffered this weekend...well, she didn't suffer, she got spoiled by both sets of Grandparents. But because of my crazy work schedule and Scott being sick I dropped Kynna off at Gama and Papa Hovan's house at 4:30pm Saturday and she spent the night (I didn't want Kynna getting what ever Scott had). I then picked her up at 8:30am on Sunday and took her over to Grandma and Grandpa Ully's house. She stayed there until Grandma dropped her off at home with Scott about 7:00pm. I had to do an open to close on Sunday (10:30am Sunday until 1:30am Monday). Let me tell you how much fun that was! Then Monday was the only day both Scott and I had off. So we had Aunt Daina come over to watch Kynna while we got our taxes done. Then the rest of the day was our family day. We ended up taking Gama Hovan for a truck ride and then out to dinner in the evening. Auntie Di and Papa were making Gama mad so we got her out of the house. And Tuesday was back to the grind. Yippie!!!! And that is the fun that we had this past weekend.

Oh! I guess I should mention the new edition to our family, it is the whole reason I started writing this post. On Friday we traded in the Saturn Ion for a 2007, 4-door, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. WE LOVE IT!!! I think it is kinda making up for the fact that Scott sold the Sammy. He feels more like a man driving a 4x4 than when he had to drive the car. I have been told that the Jeep is very much an "us" vehicle. Kynna calls it her Tractor and wants to go for "fruck rides" all day. As soon as I can get a free moment I will post a few pictures of the new Jeep for all to see.

Our day got off to a relatively good start. We got up, had breakfast, changed a bum, got dressed, had a tickle war, and then all hell broke loose. Well, not really but Kynna sure was successful in destroying the place again. Kynna decided that after she was finished her snack (popcorn) she would throw it all over the place...then crawl into a garbage can! When asked what she was doing, this is the look I got. This is the look I get when she is enjoying the mischief she is getting into.

We must have had a tiring morning because when it came time to wake up from her nap she would not get up. She tends to do this when Momom wants to get to work...on time (which does not happen very often). Hunkers, who is kinda scared of Kynna, even took her turn in trying to wake her up. With no success I decided to take some pictures of her instead. What else could I do?!?! She looked so cute!

It's official...

Well, it's official. Scott sold the Sammy. He parted with his baby on Sunday. He says he isn't sad but I know deep down inside he is crushed. Scott and Mike have been working on rebuilding the engine in the old Toyota. We bought it back from Dian. They say they should be done with the fine tuning tonight. We'll see. So this post is in loving memory of our beloved 4X4. Farewell to you and may you find the dirty, and treatcherous road ahead fun and enjoyable without us. You will be missed!

This is Makynna's first camping trip (July '06). She had a blast driving in the truck with us. The faster we went the more she laughed. The more bumps we went over the happier she was. I guess her Dadad will just have to build her a new one.

I think this is where Kynna first got her love of tires. She has to touch every tire she sees now. We recently took her to a dealership. She had to go to every tire, of every car and touch them all. She would say, "Wow! Fancy!" Some old people got a pretty good laugh out of it. That's my girl!

Kynna has a new found love of brushing her teeth. I truly believe it is because her toothpaste tastes like bubblegum but it could also be because she has a few more teeth coming in. That will bring the count to #17 and #18. Just about a mouthful.

There is one bad thing I have descovered about prolonged use of a toothbrush...the longer they brush the more saliva they produce! Who knew?!?! I have been on the recieving end of a few flying slobber bombs to the face this week. Now let me tell you how much fun that is!!! But still, I have been encouraging her to keep up the good habit...slime and all.

Getting Started...

I have decided that it is time I try my hand at the wonderful world of blogging. I guess I would like to start sharing the going-ons of the Ully's with friends and family. I think this will be more of a creative way to send pictures and updates than those boring mass e-mails. I am slightly computer inept and am hoping to learn something from this as well.

Things in the house have been chaotic for the past few weeks. Work for both Scott and me has been crazy. What time we do have together we spend trying to organize and tidy but every time we try to clean Makynna comes along. She is like a small typhoon, leaving nothing but complete distruction in her wake. People keep telling me it is normal for kids to make a mess...but if this is normal I don't want to see what she can do on a bad day!
